The monument to Władysław Łokietek in Brześć Kujawski is a contemporary commemoration of one of the most outstanding rulers of Poland, who was born in this town. The monument was unveiled on September 27, 2008, on the 677th anniversary of the Battle of Płowce, and was created by sculptor Tadeusz Wojtasik. The monument stands on Władysław Łokietek Square, opposite the town hall, surrounded by greenery and well-kept flower beds. The figure depicts the king in military attire, with a sword in his left hand and a coat of arms shield in his right, bearing the Piast eagle. A time capsule has been placed under the monument, containing a message for future generations about the life of the inhabitants at the beginning of the 21st century.
