Information

  • Address: ul. Gdańska 10, Bydgoszcz
On Gdańska Street, there is a mural dedicated to Marian Rejewski, born in 1905, a brilliant mathematician and cryptologist with roots in Bydgoszcz. The mural features his name, which must be pieced together from scattered letters. It is a tribute to the man who broke the Enigma code and worked with various "puzzles" on a daily basis. Rejewski, together with his fellow cryptologists Henryk Zygalski and Jerzy Różycki from the Cipher Bureau, contributed to shortening World War II, and now his mysterious legacy adorns the city streets, inspiring passers-by to explore the history and secrets of cryptography.
