Golub became a town in the 14th century. Although the town is not closely associated with the astronomer, he was certainly familiar with it. The most important monuments in Golub date back to the Middle Ages. The first of these is the Teutonic castle, which now serves as a Gothic-Renaissance residence and is visited by crowds of tourists and reenactors, especially during the Great International Knight Tournament. The Gothic church of St. Catherine of Alexandria also remembers the times of the astronomer. In the town, we can also find fragments of preserved medieval city walls. Thanks to the astrobase operating in Golub-Dobrzyń, many residents can discover the secrets of the cosmos, just like Nicolaus Copernicus.
